Welcome to my first ever blog! I’m Becky, a bridal makeup artist based in Kent, and I love helping brides across the South East, including London, Surrey, Sussex, and beyond, feel confident and radiant on their wedding day. I thought it was about time I shared a bit about my journey and why I absolutely love what I do.

My obsession with makeup actually started with skincare. Back in the early 2000s, skincare wasn’t as big as it is today, but even as a teenager, I was fascinated by how makeup sat on healthy, well-cared-for skin. I quickly realised that great skincare and makeup go hand in hand. I’m very religious with my own routine now and I make sure brides understand how important it is to look after their skin in the lead-up to the wedding. Well-nourished skin really makes all the difference for a flawless, long-lasting finish.

I got my first taste of the beauty industry at 13, working weekends in salons washing hair and learning the ins and outs of salon life.

After leaving school at 16, I went to college to train in hair. I also worked as a mobile hairdresser and even ran my own mobile hairdressing business. I enjoyed doing hair, but I realised I was just in the wrong creative industry. Makeup is my true calling, and after having my own bridal makeup done eight years ago, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow. I trained professionally at the Lucy Jayne Makeup Academy and have been helping brides look and feel their most confident and beautiful ever since.

I specialise in natural, modern, and flawless bridal makeup. I love focusing on the eyes, taking my time to make them really stand out and give that extra wow factor. It’s my favourite part of the application. Applying lashes is another highlight for me, it’s so satisfying and truly transformative. My goal is always to enhance each bride’s natural beauty, so you feel like the best version of yourself rather than masking who you are.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky to have some amazing opportunities. I’ve been the Creative Makeup Director for Top Model UK for five years, leading a team of over 25 artists for one of the UK’s most prestigious fashion events. I’ve been recognised as one of the Top 22 Bridal Makeup Artists in the UK by Harper’s Bazaar and among the Top 10 with Wed Vibes. I’ve also led the hair and makeup team for a high-profile fashion event in Paris for the Ambassador of Pakistan. Experiences like these continue to inspire my artistry and dedication to perfection.

Every wedding is unique, and I love helping each bride feel like the best version of herself. The excitement, nerves, laughter, and even the happy tears make my job so special. I also have a soft spot for the mums. They often share a mix of pride, nerves, and joy, and I feel all those emotions with them while I do their makeup. Being part of these intimate, unforgettable moments is a real privilege.

On a personal note, I’m a mum of three, including my eldest who is 21. I was a young mum and had him at 21, so I’ve gained a lot of life experience along the way. I’ve been married for eight years. Outside of work, I spend time with my family, walk our energetic cockapoo Coco, and keep active. I’m still a 90s girl at heart, and those tunes never get old, some things just never change.

Away from makeup, I also love photography. I often have my camera with me on wedding mornings and can’t resist snapping a few bridal portraits, it’s just something I enjoy doing.

Makeup has always been my biggest passion, and I feel so lucky that it’s now my profession. Helping people feel confident, beautiful, and happy on such an important day is the best part of what I do.

I’d love to hear about your ideas for your bridal makeup and share a few tips to help you feel confident and relaxed on your big day.
